3. Known as a city that has been built over the dead, Savannah is America’s most haunted city. Mass graves, Native American burial grounds, a Yellow fever epidemic and several large fires left restless spirits with plenty of stories to tell!
4. During the Civil War, Union General William Tecumseh Sherman didn't destroy Savannah. Instead, he gave the city as a Christmas gift to President Lincoln.
5. Savannah’s First African Baptist Church was the first black church in the country. This cherished landmark is known for its vital role as a safe house on the Underground Railroad.
6. Savannah is the 4th busiest shipping port in the USA.
7. Savannah was the first planned city in the US, thanks to General James Oglethorpe. The city's grid system and wide streets was designed with a vision!
